North and South Esk Regional is hosting its first annual school Striped Bass tournament for students in grade 7 to 12. It is a not for profit event focusing on getting our students off the couch and on the river. Striped Bass fishing has exploded in popularity on the Miramichi River system and we feel it is now time to celebrate this newfound fishery. We want to focus on raising a new generation of young people who take pride in our river and will bring the luster back to the Mighty Miramichi. We want to create future stewards of this beautiful watershed who will protect and maintain our river system for many years to come.
The tournament is free to all students at NSER and prizes will be awarded at the end of the contest. Pictures are to be emailed to Mr.Silliker and the top three longest bass will win. We hope parents, grandparents, relatives and friends take to the river this spring and celebrate our treasured watershed. In the words of Bill Jordan, founder of Realtree Outdoors, “When you get a chance, take a child hunting and fishing so they too can enjoy the outdoors”
