Grade 11 students interested in attending Saint Mary's University in Halifax will have the opportunity to visit the campus this summer.  On July 14th and 15th, Grade 11 students can spend time learning about university life by staying in residence, attending workshops and participating in campus tours.  For more information or to register, contact Emma at  Deadline for registration is June 29, 2018.

NBCC Miramichi is once again offering its College for Kids summer program during the month of July.  Students can choose from one of four themes: Animation, Sirens 4 Safety, Kids Under Construction, or Video Game Design.  The camps are open to students entering grades 7. 8 and 9.  Costs per camp is $175.00 (bursaries may be available for eligible students).  For more information see Mrs. Ward-Cain or visit

Registration is now open for the 2018-2019 sessions of Encounters with Canada.  This is a national youth program for teens 14-17 years old, offering a week-long career themes leadership experience in Ottawa.  At Encounters with Canada, high school students from across Canada meet others who share similar interests and learn about careers from professionals. Theme weeks for 2018-2019 include Sports and Fitness, Science and Ecology, First Responders, and Business and Entrepreneurship.  For more information visit  Students can register by contacting Mrs. Ward-Cain for an access code.

Brigadoon Village is a non profit recreation facility located in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia.  During the summer months the Village runs summer camps for children and youth living with health conditions and other life challenges, such as cancer, arthritis, and bereavement.  For more information about the services provided by Briagadoon Village, go to

The Point Church presents Project Prom Extravaganza.  All females attending the 2018 Prom are invited to come "shop" for a FREE prom dress, shoes, accessories, etc.  The event is being held at the Point Church (582 King George Highway) on Friday, April 6 from 6 -8 and Saturday, April 7 from 10 -2.

Again this year, the Province of New Brunswick is offering High School students the opportunity to participate in a 5 week Summer Immersion Program.  This program is held at various post secondary institutions across Canada and is open to students who are at least in Grade 11 and 16 years old by the first day of the camp.  Students are eligible for a bursary of $2200.00 which covers tuition, meals and accommodations. Saint Marys University will be holding a Marine Mammal Sumemr Camp in August, from the 4th to the 13th.  This is an excellent opportunity fior students to explore the diversity of marine mammals, as well as to conduct scientific reasearch.  The cost of this camp is $1.500 per student (some financial assisitance may be available) and the deadline for applications is April 6, 2018.  For more information or to apply go to,



The 59th Annual Royal Canadian Legion Youth Leadership Training Camp will be held at Mount Allison University from July 8-15, 2018.  This is a co-ed is camp sponsored by The Royal Canadian Legion, New Brunswick Command and is open to Grade 10 and 11 students of New Brunswick.  The 8 day camp is designed to teach leadership and organization, through sport and activities.

The Canadian Mental Health Association will be hosting a course on self-esteem in early February.  This course will provide participants with the tools to help build self-esteem and will include such topics as "What is low self esteem?" and "Accepting yourself".
