The Women of Miramichi Entrepreneurial Network is offering up to 5 bursaries, valued at $50.00 each, to female graduates throughout the Miramichi.  These bursaries will be awarded to a daughter, sister, niece or granddaughter of a WOMEN member. Interested students can send their information to womenofmiramichi@gmail.com on or before June 13, 2017.

Saint Mary's University will be offering a Summer Writing Workshop as an opportunity for students entring first year to improve and hone their writing skills.  This session will be held on August 15th and 16th and the cost per student is $240.00.  To register or for more information go to www.smu.ca/academics/summer-writing-workshop.html.

Mount Allison University would like to invite grade twelve Indigenous students to Transition Event.  This event will be taking place on May 28, 29 and 30. 
The students will be coming in for Sunday, May 28 for a Banquet, Monday May 29 will be a full day of  Campus life,  Academic expectations, life skills, learning responsibilities and fun activities.  Their transportation, meals and accommodations are free.  Details with regards where the students will be picked will be determined closer to the date.  The students will be staying in a dorm to give them real life experience.  For more information, see Mrs. Ward-Cain.

This bursary is open to any grade 12 student who has been accepted into an accredited post-secondary institution.  The bursaries will be selected based upon individual financial need, academic standing, and community involvement. Deadline for applications is June 2.

Effective Aug. 1, the government will implement changes to the provincial portion of the Canada Student Loans Program. This means that many students will be eligible for greater levels of financial assistance. Following the changes, students will only be expected to provide a fixed contribution between $1,500 and $3,000 per academic year based on their family income and family size.

Students may apply online  (http://www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/departments/post-secondary_education_training_and_labour/Skills/content/FinancialSupport/StudentFinancialServices.html) for financial assistance from the provincial government for the 2017-18 academic year beginning June 1.

Information is now available in the Guidance Centre for the Miramichi Chamber of Commerce Scholarship. Applications are available online at http://www.miramichichamber.com/scholarship-program. Selection criteria include: academic achievement; financial circumstances, field of study (business related studies will be given priority); volunteer work; and letter to the selection committee.  This award is valued at $1000.00 and the deadline for applications is May 15, 2017.
