Joyce Family Foundation Access Bursaries (for UNB students)

For those students who plan to attend UNB. Award is $20,000.00 over 4 years or $5,000.00 per year (financial need based). Note the deadline is March 31st.

TIPS FOR WRITING THE APPLICATION:  What is a bursary?

A bursary is a monetary award that is granted on the basis of financial need. Bursaries are different than Scholarships. Scholarships are merit-based and are awarded for academic achievement. Bursaries are financial-need based awards that do not have to be repaid.

1. Complete the entire form! It is hard to make a decision on or assess an incomplete application.

 2. Hand the application in on time. The DEADLINE is IMPORTANT.

3. Writing the letter:

 A) Go that extra mile!

Make sure the committee gets to know you, what makes you unique? How can The Joyce Foundation Bursary impact your life financially? What would $20,000.00 ($5,000.00 per year over 4 years) mean to you? Your Educational pursuits?

B) Have a friend, family member or guidance counsellor proof your application. Do you

have spelling errors? Have you given enough details so the committee knows what makes you unique or how this award will impact you financially?

C) Don’t Rush Your Application! Make sure you’re giving the application the necessary time and consideration to be a strong contender. You want your application to stand out, to reflect your ability to be thoughtful and hard-working.

LAST WORD OF ADVICE FOR ANY AWARD, a “Thank you” is important!
