If you visited NSER last week, you may have noticed some four-legged visitors in the halls. As part of our school-wide wellness initiative this year, several dogs and one cat were brought in during exams to help students relax and ease stress. Over exam week we had a total of eight pets visit us: Frisbee, Fenway, Duff, Poppy, Barkley, Beau, Belle and Izzy. Our furry friends played with students in our relaxation room, sat with students while they wrote exams and even hung out in an office or two!
On Monday, January 18th, students in grades 7 to 12 had the opportunity to participate in several sessions about wellness. Speakers from various organizations and businesses, offered students an overview of the health and wellness related services available to them. The New Brunswick Teen Apprenticeship Program (NBTAP) will begin accepting applications on February 1st, 2016. This program is open to students in Grades 10 and 11 who are interested in gaining experience as a pre-apprentie in a skilled trade (for a list of potential placements for summer 2016, visit www.nbtap.ca/students). This program allows students to start earning apprenticeship hours in High School and obtain up to three summers of paid work. The company needs to know who is looking to have them re-done. There is no cost ONLY IF the student return all the proofs/paperwork they got in the mail or at school for the 1st session. If they don't return the proofs/paperwork they will have to pay the 10$ or 25$. If they do have a new picture they CAN have it in the Yearbook and on the composite in the lobby. Please let the school know by January 15th at the latest.
