Week #10– Grade 7 Home Learning

It’s the final week of Home Learning! We made it through and hopefully you discovered some new ideas, skills or interests along the way.

Just a reminder to try something that we have posted online at http://nser.nbed.nb.ca/

Check the attached documents for learning choices.

You should continue to spend 30 minutes a day reading—even during the summer months, 20-30 minutes on Math, practise your writing and be sure to explore!

Remember, there is no formal assessment but feel free to email us with ANY questions or responses.  Also, check our “Team Mokey” page for new messages being posted.

Also, don’t forget to return Library books, school books and team uniforms, if applicable.

Hoping to see you in September!

Week #9– Grade 7 Home Learning

Welcome to Week 9 of Home Learning! This unique experience made most of us realize that we miss going to school and seeing our classmates.  And, we are sure you miss Mokey, who is loving the sunshine and summer-like temperatures. Mokey is back to eating blueberries and kale.  He also likes super worms.  Crickets are no more (yay!!!!) but the blue hornworm is a weekly treat and the bigger the worm to better!

Again, just a reminder to try something that we have posted online at http://nser.nbed.nb.ca/

Check the attached documents for Literacy (there are some good topics!!! Have you heard of Murder Hornets…?), Math and STEAM ideas (if you like to bake, you’ll want to try the brownie recipe). You should continue to spend 30 minutes a day reading, 20-30 minutes on Math, practise your writing and be sure to move!

Remember, there is no formal assessment but feel free to email us with ANY questions or responses.  Also, check our “Team Mokey” page for new messages being posted.

Love to hear from you!

Week #7 – Grade 7 Home Learning

Week 7 for grade 7 seems like a great week to learn from home!  We were given a Monday holiday, even though most days are like a Saturday now, and we are approaching the last few weeks of home learning.  Isn’t this still bizarre? Our only request is that you try something this week to test your brain!  Write a silly rhyme, try some geometry, read, draw or explore!  As usual, keep your brain working!

Check the attached documents for new Literacy, Math and STEAM ideas.

Week #6 – Grade 7 Home Learning

Another fresh week with some new ideas to try!  Even though it’s been a long time and nobody asked for SNOW in May, our school year is going quickly.  We really encourage you to try some of our activities, just to keep your brain sharp!

Check the attached documents for new Literacy, Math and STEAM ideas.

You should continue to spend 30 minutes a day reading, 20-30 minutes on Math, practise your writing and be sure to move!

Remember, there is no formal assessment but feel free to email us with ANY questions or responses.  Also, check our “Team Mokey” page for new messages being posted. Tell us one thing you miss about school. C’mon!! We want to hear from you!

Love to hear from you!

Week #5 – Grade 7 Home Learning

Five weeks already!? We hope that you are all well and that you are staying within your “bubble”!!  We have prepared some more “Home Learning Opportunities” for you to use while we are still apart.  See the documents attached below for some Math, STEAM and Literacy suggestions.  You should continue to spend 30 minutes a day reading, 20-30 minutes on Math and with the weather getting nicer, go outside to explore and enjoy the fresh Spring air!

Remember, there is no formal assessment but feel free to email us with ANY questions or responses.  Also, check our “Team Mokey” page for new pictures and some neat riddles that some of us have been sharing.  Keep sharing!

Art – follow the link https://juliannakunstler.com/art1_opt_des.html for neat step by step instructions on creating your own Optical Design!  You can make it as small or as big as you like.  Take a picture and send it to us to share!  We would love to see what you come up.

Love to hear from you!

Home Learning 2020

Grade 7

Week #4

We are now heading into Week 4 for our “Home Learning Opportunities” and you should be starting to get into a routine for your learning.  At least trying to practice the skills we were putting into place!  Please continue to read about 30 minutes per day, spend 20-30 minutes on Math. There are a variety of writing topics posted, each with a different purpose or style. Try the ones you find the most interesting! Just a reminder, check out the STEAM challenge page and use the same ABC’s sheet to respond to your personal reading.

Remember, there is no formal assessment but feel free to email us with any questions or responses to the topics—or if you need any help.  Also, check our Team Mokey page under “Files”. We plan to post pictures and videos that are sent to us from our class!

One tip this week is to share! We would love to hear some good news stories from you guys.  Did you get a new pet? Have you learned how to cook? Did you discover that you’re a great gardener? Let us know what’s happening!!

Miss you and can’t wait to hear from you!

Have a great week!

We are now heading into Week 3 for suggested “Home Learning Opportunities” and you might be starting to get into a routine for your learning.  If it’s possible, please continue to read about 30 minutes per day, spend 20-30 minutes on Math, move and maybe bake or create.  Check out the STEAM challenge page and use the same ABC’s sheet as last week if you want to respond to your reading.

Remember, there is no formal assessment but feel free to email us with any questions or responses to the topics.  Also, check our Team Mokey page under “Files”. We plan to post pictures and videos that are sent to us from our class!

Earth Day is Wednesday, April 22!! If you’re not sure what this means, watch this YouTube video that quickly explains how Earth Day began 50 years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6vusaq_guQ

Why not take a few minutes to go outside and find something green? Flower beds and tree buds are just starting to grow. Even take some pictures of what you find – good or bad -- but, remember, the bees need the dandelions so don’t pick them all!  Some students did a wonderful job starting plants in water last week.  You can “replant” some kitchen scraps, also by using water! Do a bit of searching online and try it out.  We are beginning plants for the school community garden and will post updates on seeds, if they sprout!

Miss you and can’t wait to hear from you!

Have a great week!

Home Learning 2020

Grade 7

Week #2

In the documents below, you will find suggested “Home Learning Opportunities” that we put together for you this week.  If it’s possible for you, read about 30 minutes per day, spend 20-30 minutes on Math, move and explore – outside, in the kitchen or with Art and, maybe, Music!

Remember, there is no formal assessment but feel free to email us with any questions or responses to the topics.

Also, check our Team Mokey page under “Files”. We will post pictures and videos that are sent to us from our class!  Some great bird feeders were submitted last week and the STEAM challenge page for this week has more great ideas, once again.  But send in anything – building, baking or creating!

Miss you and can’t wait to hear from you!

Have a great week!

Home Learning 2020

Grade 7

Hi everyone!! We hope this message finds you healthy and missing school, at least a little bit! This is a first for everyone and it’s a brand-new, extreme routine. These past few weeks have felt pretty surreal and uncertain at times but remember we got this and we will get through it, together!

Even though we’re far from the actual school environment, we have put together an action plan for you and your learning for the next little while.  You can still go at your own pace, do what you can do, move along and seek help when needed.

In the next few documents, you will find information to guide your learning. Set aside a bit of time each day to practice, read and write. Braingenie is available, as always. Just log in! Make sure you check our teacher pages every week for more ideas!

As you pursue learning at home, you may want to find your own fun sites and activities! Just google and play around with the different sites you find. If you discover a good one, share it! This is all totally new learning for all of us!!

One other thing to keep in mind is that we would love to hear from you! Feel free to contact us through emails with questions or just to check in. The chat feature on Team Mokey is available to post messages or just connect to the class! Log into your student account and choose “teams”.

Parents, please reach out at any time. We are here for your child’s learning and want to try and make this transition as “easy” as possible!

Have fun and be sure to drop us a line about anything!!
