READING

Sustained Silent Reading (SSR)  -  Using material of your choice, read silently for approximately 20 minutes per day (Feel free to reading longer if you so desire).  You can read a novel, essay, magazine, news article, etc.  These can be either in print or e-copy.  After completing the reading, you can fill in a reflection on the sheet attached to this post or on loose-leaf.  This is the same thing we did to begin each class during first semester. 

WRITING

For each day this week let’s focus on some creative writing.  Here are the topics for each day.

04/20-  My worst mistake?

04/21-  How to build a paper airplane

04/22-  My dream house

04/23-  Peer pressure

04/24-  Capital punishmnet

Take approximately 10 minutes each day and get pen to paper (or type and save electronically)    *  Don’t forget to focus on both creativity and the 7 Traits of Writing (look them up if you forget!)

1.     What were the evils that were suffered by British workers during the early part of the Industrial Revolution?

2.    How did the Socialists propose to eliminate these evils?

3.    Define the following:  Unionism, British Labour Party, Ludditties, Robert Owen, Factory Act of 1833. Laissez-faire.
