Middle School Earth Day

Posted: April 20, 2010

In Grade 7 Science class, students completed a "Fragile Earth" activity to tie in with Earthday, which was April 22.  Each pair of students was given an egg to decorate to represent Earth.  They then had to clean the egg out by poking holes in the ends and getting rid of the contents.  Their next step was to protect their Earth from harm.  One student was responsible for the first 24 hours and then the partner had the egg for the next day.  One requirement was to keep the Earth visible  Students were unsure about keeping it safe in gym and on the bus but had to try!  In class, students reflected on how they kept their Earth from harm, what some of the dangers were and how we can help protect our true fragile Earth.
