Welcome back shop students!  Hope all is well at home and that you are interested, or bored enough, to try some of these shop home-learning activities.  Every Monday around 6pm, I will drop some shop exercises on this teacher page.  Some of the content may be new and, therefore, offers you the chance to learn while not at school. If you complete a task, exercise or answer some questions and would like my feedback or corrections, send me an email at: andrew.kane@nbed.nb.ca.  Feel free to drop me a line just to say hi or question me on anything.  Looking forward to hearing from you!

Metals processing - We will not get the opportunity to try TIG welding in the shop this school year, so we should learn as much as we can in preparation for the day that we finally get the chance!  Watch this youtube video and think of the following things: 1) What is/are the biggest reason(s) we would choose to weld TIG over stick welding?  2) What are the major differences in welding technique between TIG and stick?  What specific metals are welded with TIG.

It should take you to a youtube page with lots of tig welding videos.  I recommend the DeBoss Garage video called: Tig Welding: How To Basics For Beginners.  Good luck!

Intro to Applied Tech - We managed to finish most of our electrical section of the course and we were preparing to start a section on framing and sheathing.  We start by learning vocabulary for the framing trade.  Use the glossary of words and count how many terms are found in the picture on the first page which is a wall frame.
