Last week, you investigated the history of an Atlantic Canadian natural resource industry. Wednesday, April 22 is Earth Day. So the assignment for this week will focus on environmental issues in industry. For the industry you focused on last week, research a tool, technology, or a way that things are done in that industry that either benefit or harm the environment.

Atlantic Canada and Our Environment

The Atlantic Provinces form a unique region of Canada. We have learned about how the people who settled here came from all over the world hundreds or thousands of years ago. We know these migrants or settlers brought with them their culture, their way of life. We have studied how the identity of Atlantic Canada was shaped by the people who settled here: Vikings, Mi’kmaq, Maliseet, Innu and Inuit, Beothuk, English, Scottish, Irish, French and Loyalists.

Next, we will investigate the relationship between Atlantic Canada’s environment and our way of life.

Each day, you will be given a topic to investigate. You can use the internet for research or discuss the topic with your family. You are encouraged to jot down some notes on your findings.
