Graduation Information

The Newcastle Rotary Club Charitable Trust is accepting applications for the annual memorial scholarship. The scholarship, in the amount of $3500, is awarded annually and graduating students from Miramichi Valley High School, North and South Esk Regional High School and Carrefour Beausoleil are eligible to apply. The Scholarship award criteria are modeled on the mission and values of Rotary. Applicants who demonstrate service and commitment to school and to community, solid academic achievement in high school, participation and achievement in athletic, arts and/or cultural activities and leadership skills will be considered favorably.

 

Applicants must be applying to enroll in a post-secondary institution to start Fall term 2020 to study full time in any field. Applications must be postmarked by July 14, 2020. Application forms will be available from the Principal and Guidance Offices at the 3 schools or it can be downloaded below.

The 2020 Memorial Scholarship will honor the late Charlie Hubbard.

Please see attached for application. The Selection Committee relies heavily on the applicant's letter indicating the student's personal aspirations (resumes are not sufficient for this purpose). You’re invited to Mount Allison University’s Winter Open House, in Sackville New Brunwick from 8:30 to 4:00 on Friday February 28!  Come alone, bring a friend, relative, parent or teacher and see what your university experience could look like!  There will be opportunities to learn more about support services, to have your questions about residence life answered, and to find out how you can get involved at Mount Allison!  Grade 12’s can also bring along their mid-year transcripts, just in time for our March 1 scholarship and bursary deadline.  There is even a chance to win a $5,000 award towards your residence, and other great MTA prizes!  We welcome you to visit www.mta.ca/openhouse to register, and to see a detailed schedule of our exciting day! ]

National Union of Public and General Employees

The National Union of Public and General Employees is offering 6 scholarships oof $2,500 each to students who plan to enter the 1st year of a public post-secondary educational institution full-time in 2020-2021 and who are the children/grandchildren or foster children/grandchildren of a National Union member or retiree.  

In addition, the newly added Young Worker Scholarship for those under 30 will award 2 scholarships of $2,500 with the same above criteria.  Please see web link for further information and to apply.  Note the deadline is July 6, 2020.  Applications can also be found in Guidance.

Also, there is also information regarding a contest, Why Unions Matter, that students may be interested in entering.  It is open to the public and has an award of $1,500,  The contest can be found on the website at https://unionsyeah.ca/whyunionsmatter.

Grade 12 students will also have the opportunity to have their application assessed at the information session.  All they need to do it arrive by 6:30, apply online at apply.unb.ca prior to the event and bring their high school transcript and application fee ($65) if they did not already pay online.

Students and parents will learn about programs and academic options and about successfully transitioning to university.  Support services, scholarships, tips for living in residence and advice on how to success academically will also be discussed.
