Outdoor Pursuits 110 Final Project Due: June 5th.  Assignment: Your group (2-3 students) will develop a survival manual.  This manual should include all the important materials, strategies, and essential knowledge for survival in an unfamiliar and aggressive environment; preferably similar to our Eastern Canadian forest.    Your manual must include, but not limited to: 1.  an illustrated cover  2.  table of contents  3. examples and illustrations on the strategies offered  4.  clearly defined instructions for survival in different circumstances anyone might find themselves in.   This is similar to a "how to do" manual.  YOU MUST BE ACCURATE AND SPECIFIC.  DO NOT COPY AND PASTE ANY TEXT OFF THE INTERNET (pictures can be used from net however all wording in your manual must be in your own words)                Assemble the final product like a book or manual.  Make sure that all members of your group read the manual to check for mistakes and readability.                You will be graded on how well you: a.     present your information logically and clearly b.      offer detailed and accurate specifications c.      include examples to aid comprehension d.  anticipate readers' problems, mistakes, and                          misunderstandings (100)

Grade 11 Wellness Through Phys. Ed “Health & Wellness” Mr. Silliker 2014   What:         With a partner or solo you will pick any aspect of overall “Health and Wellness” for your project. This can include Physical Activity, Nutrition, Stress Management, Eating disorders, Drug Use and Abuse, Relationships, ect….   Time:          10 minutes   How:          1) You will research your chosen topic 2) Provide statistics and information and present your findings to the class 3) Using some type of Visual Aid during your presentation is expected and a big part of your overall mark.                    ** You can use power point, Prezi, Smart Notebook during your presentation but this is not considered your “visual aid”.   Due:           JUNE 2, 2014. Health and Wellness 110 Mr. Sillliker NSER Nutrition Planning nutritious meals… 1. Make a list of the foods that you eat over the last two day period. (5 marks) 2. Count up the servings for each food group. Foods that do not fit into a food group do not count. (5 marks) 3. Plan a nutritious breakfast, lunch, dinner, and two snacks for yourself, for a two day period, using Canada’s Food Guide as a reference. (10 marks) 4. Review the list of foods that you ate over the two day period and compare this to the nutritious plan you made using Canada’s Food Guide. How do the two compare with reference to nutritional value? Evaluate your food intake for nutritional value, variety and appeal. Analyze your eating habits and write an informative description on ways you may be able to improve your eating habits to ensure that you are getting the proper nutrition. When doing this, be realistic and honest with yourself. Try substituting a few foods at first and maybe adding or taking away some foods for benefit your overall health. Suggest foods that can be substituted or modified to reduce the amount of fat and cholesterol, and still appeal to your appetite and pocketbook. Include some general tips for healthy eating in your report. (10 marks) 5. List the following foods in the order from healthiest to least healthy, as you think now. Then go to the company’s website and research the following foods for calories, fat content, sodium & carbs.  At the top of each column list the daily recommended amounts according to the Canada Food Guide.
